AEA White Wing
Where planes soar through the sky it seems,
There once was a bird so grand,
The White Wing, a marvel on the land.
It stood tall, like a noble carriage,
Its wings adorned with ailerons,
Controlled by a harness, like magic wands.
Took to the skies, his heart a wave,
On May 18th, he took flight,
And soared through the heavens, oh what a sight!
Became the first Army officer, so bold,
He flew the White Wing on that fateful day,
Adding his name to aviation's display.
Took the White Wing to a higher place,
A flight of 1,017 feet he did achieve,
A record that made all believe.
The White Wing crashed, its wings did fail,
John McCurdy, in a landing attempt,
Brought an end to this aircraft's attempt.
Its legacy lives on, forevermore,
A symbol of dreams and innovation,
In the world of aviation.
