Once upon a time, in the world of the web, AOL came to life, with a name to be said. It started as PlayNET, a service so grand, And soon became AOL, spreading across the land. In the year '85, Quantum Link was born, With software from PlayNET, a new era was sworn. Then in '88, a client for IBM, Renamed as America Online, a name to condemn. AOL grew and grew, becoming number one, Surpassing CompuServe, the battle was won. By '95, three million users it had, AOL was the brand, making others feel sad. The Internet's pioneer, AOL paved the way, With chat rooms and messaging, they made our day. Netscape was acquired, a deal so grand, For four billion dollars, it changed the whole land. But times they did change, and AOL had to adapt, Dial-up declined, broadband was where it was at. Spun off from Time Warner, a new chapter began, Now part of Yahoo!, the story goes on, my friend.
