Ae ligature

Of a character, unique and swell, Æ is its name, a curious sight, A blend of a and e, shining so bright. In languages it thrives, across the land, Danish and Norwegian, Icelandic too, Faroese embraces it, a letter so true. Changed to ä, a new embrace, But in the International Phonetic Alphabet's reign, Æ represents a sound, like cat's 'a' refrain. Ǣ and Ǽ, shining so bright, Æ̀ and Æ̂, with accents so fine, Æ̃, a nasal sound, oh how divine. Æsc, the ash tree, forevermore, Its name in English, still ash it be, Æsh, if the ligature you see.
