Bt resistance
A bacterium called Bt, a pesticide so sweet.
Gram-positive it is, a friend to the land,
Protecting crops with a helping hand.
Keeping them safe, no need to roam.
On leaf surfaces and in water too,
Bt is there, protecting me and you.
Delta endotoxins, a mighty command.
Insects beware, for Bt is near,
Their mid-gut cells it will rupture, I fear.
Humans and animals, we have no chafe.
The receptors we lack, in our gut so fine,
Bt cannot harm us, it's not our time.
Protecting our crops, until the very end.
In nursery rhymes, its tale we'll tell,
Bt, the hero, keeping pests at bay so well.
