CV27
In the deep blue sea, a ship did sail,
The USS Langley, a mighty tale.
She carried planes up high in the sky,
With wings spread wide, she would fly.
From '43 to '47, she served with pride,
A light aircraft carrier, by her side.
Her name was Langley, CVL-27,
A floating runway, straight from heaven.
After her time with the U.S. Navy,
She sailed to France, oh so wavy.
Renamed La Fayette, she found a new home,
With the French Navy, she would roam.
For twelve more years, she sailed the seas,
Bringing joy and wonder, like a gentle breeze.
Her decks were filled with brave aviators,
Their dreams taking flight, like alligators.
Now her story lives on, in history's embrace,
The USS Langley, a ship of grace.
From the United States to the shores of France,
She taught us all, to take a chance.
