In the deep blue sea, a ship did sail, The USS Langley, a mighty tale. She carried planes up high in the sky, With wings spread wide, she would fly. From '43 to '47, she served with pride, A light aircraft carrier, by her side. Her name was Langley, CVL-27, A floating runway, straight from heaven. After her time with the U.S. Navy, She sailed to France, oh so wavy. Renamed La Fayette, she found a new home, With the French Navy, she would roam. For twelve more years, she sailed the seas, Bringing joy and wonder, like a gentle breeze. Her decks were filled with brave aviators, Their dreams taking flight, like alligators.
