DD35A
In the land of trains, so grand and bold,
There was a locomotive, strong and bold.
The DD35A was its name,
Built by EMD, with power and fame.
With D-D wheels, it rolled along,
A diesel-electric, oh so strong.
5,000 horsepower, it could boast,
Pulling Union Pacific's heavy coast.
A cab-equipped variant, unique and rare,
The DD35A, beyond compare.
Fifteen were built, with numbers so fine,
From 70 to 84, in a perfect line.
Its predecessor, the DD35,
A cabless booster, helping it thrive.
But the DD35A, with a cab in place,
Brought a new era, with style and grace.
From May to July, in '65 they were made,
A locomotive that would never fade.
Oh, DD35A, you paved the way,
For the Centennial, the grandest display.
