EPAL
EPAL, a language so grand,
For privacy policies it takes a stand.
Written by IBM, oh so fine,
To govern data handling, it does define.
Submitted to W3C, in 2003,
For recommendation, it aimed to be.
A language formal, precise and clear,
To protect our data, far and near.
But in 2004, a lawsuit arose,
Zero-Knowledge Systems, they chose to oppose.
Claiming a breach of copyright, you see,
From the days of PRML, when they worked with glee.
PRML, the foundation of EPAL's might,
Zero-Knowledge argued, they had the right.
To be a co-owner, to share the fame,
Of this standard that bears IBM's name.
The court would decide, the truth to unveil,
To settle the dispute, to lift the veil.
But in the meantime, we'll sing and we'll play,
And learn about EPAL, come what may.
So children, remember, privacy is key,
EPAL protects us, you and me.
Let's use our data with care and might,
And keep our information safe and bright.
