In a lab, so bright and clean, A molecule was born, unseen. ERB-196, its name so grand, A synthetic estrogen, oh so grand. With selective powers, it did possess, Binding to ERβ, it would impress. 78-fold selectivity, oh so rare, For ERβ over ERα, it would care. Wyeth, they saw its potential, you see, For inflammation and sepsis, it could be. In 2004, development began, But alas, by 2011, it met its end. But ERB-196, it won't be forgotten, Its story lives on, in words begotten. A molecule with dreams so high, In the world of science, it did try.
