In Europe, there's a partnership grand, Called ERESS, oh how it's so grand! It helps the railways measure and bill, For the energy trains consume with their will. The ERESS system, known as Erex, Provides metering services, oh what a flex! It helps measure, control, and keep track, Of the energy trains consume, no slack. On the railway network, trains are found, Many active trains, all around. They need electricity, oh so true, And must pay for the energy they use too. The national authority, with great care, Bills the train companies, it's only fair. The infrastructure manager takes the lead, Sending energy bills, with speed. Before ERESS, estimates were made, To bill train energy, oh what a trade! But now with ERESS, it's accurate and true, Energy consumption is measured through and through. In 1999, the idea was born, Presented at a conference, with joy and scorn. Johnny Brevik, the director, had a vision, To create a system, with precision. Four years later, an agreement was signed, Jernbaneverket, Banverket, and Banedanmark combined. Nress was the name, Nordic in its might, But later it changed, to ERESS, shining bright. With headquarters in Oslo, it's quite grand, Representatives from partners, hand in hand. Energy savings it has shown, Awarded for sustainability, it's known.
