FH-1100 (Helicopter)
In the sky, up high, a helicopter so bright,
With a single engine, it takes off in flight.
The Fairchild Hiller FH-1100, its name so grand,
Designed by Fairchild Hiller, an American brand.
Once called Model 1100, it aimed for the army,
A Light Observation Helicopter, so speedy.
The Hiller YOH-5, its military name,
It flew for the first time, bringing fame.
But alas, it did not receive a production deal,
Hiller was underbid, it didn't quite appeal.
Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation came,
They saw potential, they saw the helicopter's fame.
The FH-1100, they marketed with pride,
For civilian use, it could easily glide.
International military air services, they sought,
The FH-1100, a helicopter they bought.
Production ended in '73, but support remained,
The FH-1100's legacy, it still maintained.
Manufacturing restarted, but numbers were few,
The FH-1100, a helicopter that flew.
