FV Jakob Goldschmidt

Once upon a time, in the deep blue sea, There sailed a ship, so grand and free. V 404 Baden was her name, A German trawler, with fishing fame. Built in 1930, she was strong and stout, With a name that changed, without a doubt. From Jakob Goldschmidt to Baden she went, A new chapter in her life, she was sent. During the war, her purpose changed, Requisitioned by the Kriegsmarine, she was arranged. A vorpostenboot she became, to protect the shore, Sailing through the waves, forevermore. But alas, in 1944, her fate took a turn, Scuttled she was, to the ocean's churn. Yet, post-war, she rose from the deep, As Docteur Edmond Papin, a cargo ship to keep. Sold to the United Kingdom, a new land to roam, But her journey ended, for she found her final home. In 1961, she bid her farewell, As she was scrapped, her story to tell.
