Fr George Coyne

In the land of stars and skies so grand, There lived a priest, oh so grand, Father Coyne, with wisdom and grace, He looked up high, to outer space. With telescope in hand, he'd gaze, At planets and stars in a cosmic maze, He led the Vatican Observatory, And studied the heavens with great glory. He taught at Le Moyne College too, Sharing his knowledge with me and you, He showed us how science and faith can blend, And that the Bible, it does not pretend. He said, "The Bible is not a book of science, But a treasure trove of truth and reliance, Filled with myths, poetry, and history, It's not meant to teach us about astronomy." So let us remember Father Coyne's quest, To bridge the gap between science and the rest, With wonder and awe, we'll look to the skies, And continue to learn, with open eyes.
