Ha'penny
In days of old, a coin we'd see,
A little treasure, called the halfpenny.
With a shiny face and a copper hue,
It could buy a treat or two.
A ha'penny, small yet grand,
Held tightly in a young child's hand.
With its value half of a penny's worth,
It brought joy and laughter to the earth.
In the market, it had its place,
A humble coin with a smiling face.
With a ha'penny, you could buy a sweet,
Or maybe a toy, a little treat.
Oh, ha'penny, how you brought delight,
To children's eyes, so big and bright.
With your jingling sound and shiny glow,
You made their hearts dance and spirits grow.
Though now you're gone, a memory sweet,
The ha'penny's tale we'll always repeat.
For in our hearts, you'll forever stay,
A symbol of joy from yesterday.
