Ica, Peru
In southern Peru, there's a city so grand,
Ica is its name, where wonders expand.
With a rich history, it's been around for long,
Since the Spanish conquistador's song.
The indigenous people, they called it home,
But in fifteen sixty-three, a claim was made,
Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera, the city he laid.
Oh Ica, Oh Ica, a place of delight,
Where the sun shines bright, from morning till night.
With a population, so lively and grand,
Over two eighty-two thousand, hand in hand.
But tragedy struck, in two thousand and seven,
The earth shook violently, causing havoc and heaven.
The Peru earthquake, with its destructive might,
Ica suffered greatly, in the dark of the night.
But Ica, dear Ica, you rose from the ground,
Rebuilding your spirit, with strength so profound.
With resilience and hope, you've shown us the way,
Ica, Oh Ica, forever you'll stay.
