Iqbal Sacranie
Once upon a time in Malawi land,
A boy named Iqbal, oh so grand,
With dreams in his heart, he set off to see,
The land of the Queen, the land of the free.
In '69, he arrived on the shore,
To a country new, with so much in store,
He worked hard and studied, day and night,
To make his dreams take flight, oh what a sight!
He became a leader, wise and true,
Secretary General, he knew what to do,
For the Muslim Council, he paved the way,
Guiding them forward, each and every day.
Honored with an OBE, he stood tall,
Knighted by the Queen, he had it all,
But controversy came, like a stormy sea,
Misinterpreted words, causing a plea.
He spoke of forgiveness, of love and grace,
And though he believed in a different space,
He taught us all, to respect and understand,
