JDS Kirishima (DDG-174)
In the land of Japan, where the waves do roar,
There sails a ship, mighty and more.
Kirishima is her name, so strong and grand,
A guided missile destroyer, protecting the land.
Laid down in Nagasaki, with care and pride,
By Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, side by side.
On a day in April, the year was '92,
Her journey began, a dream come true.
With a launch in August, she soared up high,
Like a bird in the sky, reaching for the sky.
Her sleek design, a sight to behold,
A symbol of strength, brave and bold.
But it wasn't until March, in '95,
That Kirishima set sail, ready to thrive.
Commissioned and ready, her crew stood tall,
Protecting the waters, one and all.
Now she calls Yokosuka her home,
With Rear Admiral Iwasaki, she'll never roam.
As the flagship of the fleet, she leads the way,
The mighty Kirishima, forever to stay.
