KB-50
Once upon a time, in the sky so high,
There flew a plane, reaching for the sky.
The Boeing B-50, strong and grand,
A strategic bomber, soaring over the land.
A revision it was, of the B-29,
With powerful engines, oh so fine.
Pratt & Whitney R-4360, they were called,
Making the B-50, mighty and bold.
Its structure was stronger, its tail fin tall,
Improvements aplenty, for one and all.
The last piston-engined bomber, by Boeing made,
For the United States Air Force, it stayed.
After its service with Strategic Air Command,
The B-50 had a new role to understand.
It became an aerial tanker, for all to see,
Helping Tactical Air Command, so gracefully.
But alas, the B-50's time came to an end,
Metal fatigue and corrosion, they couldn't mend.
Retired in '65, both tanker and weather plane,
The B-50's legacy, forever will remain.
