Once upon a time, in a land far away, Lived a diplomat, Kjeld Vibe, they say. With a mind so sharp and a heart so kind, He served his country with all his might. From Stavanger he hailed, a place so grand, With dreams of diplomacy, he took a stand. He studied hard, became a jurist true, Ready to make a difference, through and through. In '55, he joined the Foreign Affairs crew, Embarking on a journey, exciting and new. To the United States, he was sent, As an embassy counsellor, he was content. Years went by, and his skills did grow, Promoted to deputy under-secretary, oh! His dedication shone, like a guiding star, Leading him to serve as NATO's ambassador. For seven long years, he held the post, Representing his country, from coast to coast. Then as permanent under-secretary he stood, Working tirelessly for the greater good. In '89, a new adventure did arise, He became Norway's ambassador, oh so wise. To the United States, he returned with pride, Building bridges between nations, far and wide. For his service, he was honored and revered, A Commander with Star, his accolades appeared. The Order of St. Olav, shining bright, Recognizing his contributions, day and night. So let us remember this diplomat's tale, Of Kjeld Vibe, who never did fail. With passion and dedication, he paved the way, A true inspiration, even to this day.
