Ku-wen
In ancient times, so long ago,
A special kind of writing did grow.
Gǔwén, it's called, so full of grace,
With characters in an ancient embrace.
In Shuowen Jiezi, a dictionary grand,
Gǔwén forms were given a helping hand.
They were added there, with great care,
Preserving the beauty of characters rare.
Chinese bronze inscriptions, oh so old,
Gǔwén characters, strong and bold.
On vessels and bells, they were engraved,
Telling stories of the past, so brave.
Oracle bone script, a magical sight,
Gǔwén characters, shining so bright.
On turtle shells and bones, they were found,
Uncovering history, profound.
Seal script, with its intricate lines,
Gǔwén characters, like ancient signs.
Used for official documents, with pride,
A mark of power, they can't hide.
Old Texts, the classics of old,
Gǔwén versions, precious like gold.
Transcribed from manuscripts, long lost,
Preserving wisdom, no matter the cost.
Classical Chinese, a language refined,
Gǔwén words, with meaning entwined.
In literature and poetry, they did thrive,
Captivating hearts, keeping stories alive.
So let's celebrate Gǔwén, ancient and true,
A treasure of words, for me and you.
In its beauty and charm, we find delight,
A window to the past, shining so bright.
