L 372-58
In the constellation of Horologium,
A tiny star shines, oh so dim.
GJ 1061 is its name,
A red dwarf, with a gentle flame.
Twelve light-years away it lies,
A distance that truly mystifies.
With a magnitude of thirteen,
A telescope is what you'll need.
Its proper motion was known back then,
But its true distance was a question, when.
Twenty-fifth nearest to our Sun,
A discovery that was so much fun.
This little star, so small and bright,
With a mass that's just a fraction, right.
Only twelve and a half percent,
Of the Sun's mass, it represents.
A red dwarf, it may be small,
But its light shines for us all.
No infrared excess to be found,
Just a star, so humble and profound.
