Mu'awiya II
In the land of Umayyad, a caliph did rise,
Mu'awiya II, with wisdom in his eyes,
He succeeded his father, Yazid the First,
To rule the dynasty, he was now immersed.
With a heart so young and a mind so bright,
Mu'awiya II ruled with all his might,
But his reign was short, just a fleeting year,
For destiny had something else, my dear.
He carried the torch of the Sufyanid line,
A caliph so noble, so truly divine,
But fate had other plans, it was not to be,
Mu'awiya II's rule, we now sadly see.
In the year 683, his reign did start,
With hopes and dreams in his youthful heart,
But alas, in 684, he met his demise,
Leaving behind a legacy that forever lies.
Though his rule was brief, his memory remains,
Mu'awiya II, the caliph with little reigns,
Let us remember his tale, so short but true,
A lesson for us all, in all that we pursue.
