NOAAS Chapman (R 446)
Once upon a time, in the deep blue sea,
There sailed a ship, as happy as can be.
NOAAS Chapman was her name,
A research vessel, seeking fortune and fame.
For eighteen years, she explored the ocean's floor,
With scientists and crew, always wanting to know more.
From 1980 to 1998, she sailed with grace,
Collecting data and studying marine life's embrace.
After her NOAA days, a new chapter began,
She became R/V Chapman, part of a different plan.
The University of Puerto Rico was her new home,
A marine research vessel, where knowledge would roam.
But her adventures didn't end there, oh no,
She found a new purpose, ready to go.
Now in CuraƧao, as a mothership she thrives,
For the deep-diving submarine, Curasub, she drives.
So let's raise a cheer for NOAAS Chapman, so grand,
A vessel of knowledge, exploring sea and land.
Her legacy lives on, in the stories we tell,
Inspiring young minds, to explore and excel.
