Ne clathrate
Neon, oh neon, a magical gas,
With other elements, it forms a mass.
Compounds of neon, once thought a myth,
Now we know they exist, what a wonderful shift.
Neon ions, they dance and they play,
With molecules, they find their own way.
Excimers they're called, neon's delight,
Temporary and bright, oh what a sight.
Neon molecules, predicted to be,
Stable and calm, yet still unseen.
In nature's embrace, they're yet to be found,
But in our dreams, they dance all around.
Neon's ionization potential so high,
Second only to helium, oh my!
Too much energy to form compounds stable,
But that's okay, neon's still able.
With polarisability so low and rare,
Little tendency to link, it doesn't dare.
Neon's reactivity, less than helium's might,
The least reactive element, shining so bright.
Neon, oh neon, with your magic glow,
You captivate us, and we love you so.
In compounds or ions, you bring delight,
Neon, oh neon, shining so bright.
