No-Execute bit
In a land of chips and circuits so grand,
There lived a CPU, oh so grand.
With a special feature, it could boast,
The NX bit, it loved the most.
The NX bit, a magical spell,
Segregating space, oh so well.
Data and instructions, kept apart,
Protecting the CPU's precious heart.
An operating system, wise and bright,
Marked areas as non-executable, just right.
The processor obeyed, it knew the rule,
No code would run, no malicious tool.
Write XOR Execute, a fancy name,
To stop software, oh what a game!
No taking over, no sneaky attack,
Buffer overflow, you won't get back.
AMD called it NX, a marketing flair,
Intel's XD bit, they too did share.
MIPS said XI, execute inhibit,
ARM's XN, never execute, not a bit.
So children, remember this tale so true,
The CPU's magic, protecting you.
With the NX bit, it's safe and sound,
In the land of processors, all around.
