Nu (cuneiform)

In ancient times, so long ago, A script was used, a language to show. Cuneiform signs, they were quite grand, With shapes and lines, they'd help you understand. One sign in particular, called "nu", Had a special role, it knew what to do. As a syllabic sign, it would say, The sound of "nu" in a special way. But in the Epic of Gilgamesh, we see, This sign had more uses, oh how it could be! As a Sumerogram, it stood so tall, In names of gods and heroes, one and all. And in the Amarna letters, it had a role, To talk of present conditions, it was its goal. A segue adverb, it would proclaim, "Now" and "at this time," it would exclaim.
