In a world of factories and machines, Where telecommunication reigns supreme, There came a standard, so grand and bold, OPC, the story unfolds. OLE for Process Control, it was named, By a task force, its destiny framed, In 1996, its journey began, To connect devices, from every brand. Real-time plant data, it could transmit, Between control devices, it would flit, Manufacturers united, under OPC's wing, Sharing information, a beautiful thing. The OPC Foundation, it came to be, To maintain the standards, for you and me, Beyond process control, OPC did soar, To building automation, and even more. From OLE to .NET, it did expand, With XML and TCP, it took a stand, Open Platform Communications, its new name, A technology that's worthy of acclaim.
