Of Nightingales That Weep
In ancient Japan, a tale we find,
Of a young girl with a troubled mind,
Takiko, brave and full of grace,
Her story takes us to a distant place.
Her father, a samurai, met his end,
Leaving Takiko with wounds to mend,
Her mother remarried, a potter so small,
But Takiko feared him, she felt so small.
As Takiko grew, her heart did yearn,
To serve the emperor, her love did burn,
In the court she found her place,
And love bloomed with an enemy's face.
Hideo, a spy, with secrets to keep,
Captured Takiko's heart so deep,
But duty called and she had to go,
Leaving behind a love she'd come to know.
In the end, Takiko returned home,
To reconcile her feelings, no longer alone,
With Goro, the potter, she found peace,
And her heart's longing finally did cease.
