Oidaematophorus kellicotti
A moth of beauty, by our side.
With wings so delicate and light,
It dances in the day and night.
Its presence spreads across the sand.
From New York's state to Florida's shore,
The Goldenrod Borer we adore.
A sight that makes our hearts do flip.
From fourteen to twenty-nine millimeters,
It's a tiny creature, but oh so clever.
In Florida's warmth, it finds delight.
But in New York, it lingers late,
Until October, it can't wait.
A golden feast, a sweet perfume.
The larvae bore into the stem,
A journey that we can't condemn.
