Ozamia clarefacta

With snout so long, it's quite a sight to mind. Its wings are gray, with markings dark and bold, And pearly white hindwings, like moonlit gold. A tiny creature, but a true impacta. Described by Dyar Jr., back in '19, A species unique, like nothing ever seen. On Opuntia plants, a prickly beast. From Lindheimeri to Cacanapa they dine, On flowers and fruit, a tasty treat so fine. Turn pink and wine-colored, as they grow tall. But the last instars, oh, how they transform, Dull black they become, like a midnight storm. Amongst rubbish and soil, or dead flowers to choose. The snout moth rests, in its cozy bed, Until it emerges, with wings widespread. So remember, my dear, this snout moth's tale, Of nature's wonders, both big and small-scale. From Texas to Mexico, it spreads its wings, A magical creature, that nature brings. Random page: ViaSat Incorporated
