SJ Class G11
Once upon a time, in a land far away,
There were steam trains chugging, ready to play.
The Statens Järnvägar, oh what a sight,
Class G11 locomotives, shining so bright.
Purchased in '53, from Dutch Railways they came,
To replace old engines, with a brand new name.
SJ had high hopes, for these steam-powered machines,
But alas, the trials were not as they seemed.
They chugged and they puffed, with all their might,
But the advances of diesel, were just too bright.
The technology was changing, oh so fast,
And the steam trains knew, their time wouldn't last.
So off they went, back to their old home,
The Dutch Railways, where they could roam.
But let's not forget, the role they played,
In the history of trains, where memories are made.
The Class G11 locomotives, may not have stayed,
But their legacy lives on, in the stories conveyed.
So let's wave goodbye, to these steam trains so grand,
And cherish the memories, of this enchanting land.
