SS-321
Once upon a time, in the deep blue sea,
There sailed a submarine, so brave and free.
USS Besugo was her noble name,
A Balao-class beauty, known for her fame.
During World War II, she patrolled the ocean,
From Bungo Channel to the Makassar Strait in motion.
She hunted for enemies, both near and far,
And sank a German sub, a shining star.
Besugo was a hero, fearless and strong,
She sank a tanker, oh so long.
Nichei Maru was no match for her might,
She protected the seas, day and night.
In the Korean War and Cold War, she served,
A symbol of freedom, that's what she deserved.
But her time came to an end, it was true,
Besugo retired, bidding her crew adieu.
She found a new home, across the sea,
With the Italian Navy, where she'd be.
Francesco Morosini was her new name,
A chapter closed, but her legacy remains.
