In Syria's land, where stories unfold, There lies a currency, worth its weight in gold. The Syrian pound, a treasure to behold, Issued by the Central Bank, as we are told. Divided into piastres, a hundred in all, But coins no longer, their value did fall. Banknotes are plenty, they stand tall, But beware, the small ones are worthless, recall! In days of old, the word "qirsh" was spelled, With a letter unique, as history tells. Then came a change, a new story compelled, With a different letter, the word now excelled. Banknotes of old, a language mix, Arabic on one side, French on the flip. But times have changed, a new script to equip, So let us learn, about this currency grand, The Syrian pound, in our minds it will stand. A tale of history, from a faraway land, Where coins and banknotes, we'll always understand. Random page: OAS (disambiguation)
