Swag (bedroll)
In Australia's land, where the bush is vast,
A swagman walks, his journey so vast.
With a bundle on his back, rolled up so tight,
He carries his home, through day and night.
A swag is his bed, oh so portable,
A bundle of belongings, so reliable.
He rolls it up, in a traditional way,
Ready to travel, come what may.
Before cars and trucks, were part of the scene,
Foot travel was common, so serene.
The swagman would wander, over miles and miles,
Through the Australian bush, with his cheerful smiles.
Shearers and miners, the unemployed too,
Carried their swags, as they journeyed through.
Happy to be called swagmen, some would say,
For they found adventure, along the way.
So let's remember the swagman's tale,
His portable bed, his journey so frail.
In Australia's land, where the bush is grand,
The swagman walks, with a swag in hand.
