In the depths of the ocean blue, A U-boat sailed, strong and true. SM UC-42, its name so grand, A minelaying submarine, a marvel on land. Ordered in November, launched in September, With a mission to remember, they would always remember. In World War I, it took its place, A fearsome vessel, ready to embrace. Commissioned on a day, so special and bright, November 18th, a moment of delight. Into the German Imperial Navy, it was sworn, SM UC-42, a legend was born. Through the waves, it would glide, With stealth and grace, it would hide. A minelaying submarine, a master of the sea, UC-42, a symbol of bravery.
