UV stabilisers

In polymer chemistry, oh what a sight, Photo-oxidation causes quite a fright. When light and oxygen come into play, The polymer's surface starts to decay. The chains of the polymer begin to break, Leaving the material oh so weak. Brittleness sets in, it's hard to bear, Mechanical failure is in the air. As time goes on, the damage is done, Microplastics form, oh what a conundrum. In textiles, it's called phototendering, A process that's quite disheartening. But fear not, for technology's here, To accelerate or inhibit, never fear. UV-polymer stabilizers are the key, For plastic building components to be free. Doors, window frames, and gutters so grand, With advanced stabilizers, they'll withstand. On the other hand, single-use plastics may, Be treated with additives to decay. Pigments and dyes, oh what a surprise, They too can have effects that arise. Absorbing UV-energy, they play a role, In the world of polymers, they take their toll. So let us learn about polymer's plight, And how light and oxygen cause a fight. With knowledge and care, we'll find a way, To protect our planet, each and every day. Random page: DIGI
