Uzbek Jews
In Uzbekistan, a land so grand,
Two Jewish communities did stand.
Bukharan Jews, devout and true,
And Ashkenazi, a faithful crew.
With customs rich and prayers so deep,
Bukharan Jews their faith would keep.
Their synagogues, twelve in all,
A place to gather, stand tall.
Ashkenazi Jews, a smaller band,
With traditions from a distant land.
They too had synagogues, a few,
To worship and to pray anew.
In 1989, a thriving sight,
Ninety-four thousand, shining bright.
But as the years went swiftly by,
Fewer Jews remained, oh my!
Now in Tashkent, they find their way,
The Jewish community here to stay.
Though numbers may be few, it's true,
Their faith and spirit will continue.
