YUYV
In the world of color, there's a model called YUV,
Used in TVs and computers too, it's true.
Y is for luma, the brightness we see,
U and V are for chroma, as happy as can be.
Y′ is the luma, calculated from RGB,
Different from true luminance, you see.
U and V are the chroma components two,
They make colors pop, in a vibrant hue.
In the olden days, when TVs were black and white,
U and V were added, what a sight!
A subcarrier made it possible, oh so clever,
To show color on screens, and make us all endeavor.
Y, Y′, U, and V, not abbreviations they be,
But chosen letters with a special decree.
Y for luminance, from XYZ it came,
Luma Y′, a correlate of luminance, the same.
U and V were picked to stand out,
Different from other spaces, without a doubt.
So remember the YUV model, it's quite grand,
With luma and chroma, color at your command.
