EW Swanton's XI cricket team in West Indies in 1960-61
Cricket began to grow and grow.
From 1865, the players played,
With passion and skill, they never strayed.
West Indies' fate, it would dictate.
They faced the best, from far and wide,
With every match, they grew with pride.
A domestic league, they would fix.
The Shell Shield was born, a competition grand,
Where players could showcase their skillful hand.
Into the Carib Beer Cup, it flew.
Teams battled fiercely, with heart and might,
For the glory of winning, in the cricketing fight.
From their cricketing past, we are truly blessed.
From first-class beginnings to Test cricket's fame,
Their love for the game will forever remain.
