In programming land, where code is king,
String functions are a magical thing.
They manipulate strings with a wave of their hand,
And query information, oh so grand.
In every language, you will find,
String functions of every kind.
Properties and methods, oh so neat,
In object-oriented languages, they're quite a treat.
In functional languages, strings are like a list,
With character codes, they can't be missed.
List-manipulation procedures, they do the trick,
String functions, oh so quick!
Some languages have immutable strings,
Returning a copy, like shiny rings.
While others, like C, manipulate the original,
Copying data can be quite critical.
The length function is the simplest of all,
Counting characters, big and small.
In many languages, it's called len,
String functions, again and again.
