Ur, Babylonia

Where the Euphrates flowed, shifting the sand. Ur was its name, a city-state so old, With stories and legends, waiting to be told. A city of wonder, reaching for the skies. Nanna, the moon god, was its patron divine, In the abode of Nanna, the city would shine. A temple so mighty, standing tall and bold. Built by Ur-Nammu, in the 21st century BC, A sacred place where people came to see. The coastline shifted, a new landscape arranged. Now well inland, on the south bank it stands, A testament to history, in ancient lands. Its stories and wonders, so pure and so pure.
